Matco Tools says its new PRO1000 borescope is the smallest in the automotive mobile tool market. The 5.5 mm camera head has an 8X zoom and gets into tight spots without teardowns. The company says this saves up to 90% of the cost of warranty repair evaluations.
Besides having the smallest camera on the market, the PRO100 is also easy to operate requiring only one hand to shoot photos, video, audio and toggle back and forth between live and still images or projects. At 1-lb. working weight, it is lightweight, ergonomic and has just four buttons to run everything from a 3.5-inch on-screen display. Matco says this is one of the largest on the market to see the small details clearly for faster problem diagnosis.
To develop the PRO1000, Matco went straight to technicians, shop owners, and service managers to understand their challenges in order to create a real solution.
“We found that our technicians and shop owners are looking for a borescope that can solve the ever-increasing warranty documentation needs,” says John Green, VP of marketing for Matco Tools. “As cars become more complex, so do associated warranty claims. We developed a product that solves these issues with a built-in image organization system that truly separates us from the competition.”
PRO1000 features an image management system that allows technicians to not only shoot stills, but also freeze and compare image and live shots, and then store them in project folders to organize multiple jobs. Users can also shoot photos in rapid succession to document a problem as it happens, add a voice memo to an image and record video.
In addition to standard photo and video capabilities, Matco’s PRO1000 can connect directly to a TV to present needed or completed work to customers or document warranty repairs and insurance claims.
