Chevy Camaro close shave

Owners of the 2010 Chevy Camaro with manual transmission may complain about a squeak noise at the shift knob.

This is likely caused by contact between the silver cover and the chrome trim ring.

Remove the silver cover on the rear of the shift knob using a blunt, flat, stiff plastic tool.

Remove approximately 1mm (0.040-inch) of material from the silver cover where it interferes with the chrome trim ring.

Reinstall the silver cover.

Remove the silver cover (1, shown in green here for illustrative purpose), and using a fine file, carefully remove about 0.040-inch of material where it contacts the chrome trim ring. Be careful not to mar the silver cover.
