Snap-on debuts semi-deep flip sockets for BMWs

Snap-on Tools, a division of Snap-on Inc., has introduced 1/4-inch drive 8 mm and 10 mm semi-deep flip sockets (S6810) designed to speed oil changes on BMW vehicles as well as remove and install under belly pans on a variety of makes.

“Our new semi-deep flip sockets are perfect for removing and installing BMW belly pans with 30 fasteners that are a combination of 8mm and 10mm. With the S6810, service technicians have the convenience of one tool to work on both sizes,” says Scott Amundson, product manager for Snap-on. “These sockets can also be used on other vehicles such as Lexus, Infiniti and Mercedes that utilize 8 mm or 10 mm fasteners to secure the belly pans.”

The company says the sockets are manufactured from special precision-forged, heat-treated alloy steel for optimum strength and durability. The double hex (12-point) allows the socket to engage a single hex fastener every 30 degrees rather than every 60 degrees, providing better access in restricted areas. These sockets are also a great choice for use on Chevrolet Cruze and BuickVerano splash shields that use 8mm fasteners, according to Snap-on.
