Benz bolts

Self-locking screws/bolts for Mercedes-Benz threaded axle mount connections must always be replaced during servicing. It is mandatory that the threads on the axle mount be re-cut and blown out with compressed air.

Adhesive residue in the threads affects the strength of the bolt even when the correct torque and angle is applied. If thread residue is present, the bolt may bend and eventually break.

Whenever servicing self-locking bolt connection on axle mounts, run a cleaning tap through the female threads and blow out with compressed air before installing the new bolt(s).
