NUCAP and SafeBraking.com have chosen the winners of their Bad Brake Pad contest.
The contest challenged anyone with a camera to take a picture of the worst brake pad they could find and send it in to the NUCAP and/or Safebraking.com's websites.
Then each month a monthly and three weekly runners-up were selected by a panel of technicians and engineers. The monthly winner received a $250 Snap-on Tools gift card, and each of the runners-up won a $100 Snap-on gift card.
The grand prize winner was Ivy Palmer from Ivy Automotive. She received two round trip plane tickets to Las Vegas with hotel accommodations for the 2014 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.
Palmer says the customer came into her shop because he heard the brakes grinding from the left rear tire, but kept driving until the calipers locked up.
“We received numerous entries with photos showing pads with adhesive bonding experiencing delamination and rust jacking, which contributed to shorter brake pad life,” the company notes.
