Snappy Caddy

Owners of 2010-2013 Cadillac SRX vehicles may comment that during brake application there is a snap or pop noise that can be heard and felt from the front of the vehicle. This can be duplicated while driving forward at around 30 mph to 35 mph.

On initial brake application or mid-way through brake application, verify that the noise is heard. This condition can also occur when the front suspension is loaded during parking lot turning maneuvers or over a speed bump.

Verify that the snap or pop noise is coming from the front lower control arm rear mount area. Using chassis ears, attach one lead to the front lower control arm rear mount bolt head. If the noise is detected, replace the bushing following the front lower control arm bushing replacement procedure in the service manual.

Replacement bushing for the front lower control arm rear location are available as P/N 22980140.
