ATF drowns starter

A starter failure can result from an improperly seated ATF dipstick on 2006 and later Honda Ridgeline and Pilot, 2007 and later Odyssey and 2008 and later Accord V8 vehicles.

The reason: The ATF dipstick is located next to the starter. If the dipstick is not properly seated in the tube, ATF can spill out and soak the starter motor. The fluid eventually works its way into the motor, resulting in serious damage to the starter motor.

Always make sure that the ATF dipstick is fully seated.

If ATF soaks into the starter, the motor is kaput.
