Audi needs just a dab of grease

This bulletin applies to 2013 Audi TT models. A loud cracking or rubbing noise may be heard when turning the steering wheel, leading the owner to assume that there is a major problem.

While steering, the shock absorber stop may chafe on the plastic cap of the suspension strut. If the vehicle is raised on a frame lift, the noise may disappear. Chances are, the boot is not properly installed or is deformed.

Apply silicon grease G 000 405 A2 onto the contact surface of the plastic cap of the suspension strut. Attach the boot correctly on the slots of the upper mounting and the bottom of the damper. Slight deformations of the boot can be pressed out at room temperature.

“A” shows the contact surface of the plastic cap.
