Fuel-Sucking Sensor

This bulletin applies to 2008 Volkswagen Passat models equipped with a 3.6L engine. Due to fuel intrusion into the low pressure side fuel pressure sensor G410, a false signal may be sent to the ECM, resulting in a reading that is out of tolerance. A false signal may result in the MIL on and DTC P129F or P310B stored in the fault memory.

An improved fuel pressure sensor G410 is available to aid against fuel intrusion.

Check to verify that DTC P129F and/or P310B are stored in memory.

Start the engine and allow it to idle.

Disconnect the fuel metering valve connector N276 on the high pressure fuel pump.

Compare fuel pressure values from MVB 103 field 1 and MVB 106 field 1.

If MVB 103 value deviates more than +/- 0.5 bar (7.25 psi) from MVB 106 measurement, the DTC was likely triggered by a faulty G410 low side fuel pressure sensor. In this case, replace the G410 low side fuel pressure sensor. The new sensor is available as P/N 03C 906 051A.

Clear DTCs and verify that the concern has been resolved.
