Some 2009-2010 Mazda CX-9 vehicles may experience an engine stall. The engine will restart and no DTC is stored. This may be caused by an open circuit in the injector wiring harness and/or short circuit to the crankshaft position sensor (CKP) wire shielding near connector 0140-16.
1. Start the engine.
2. Wiggle or gently tug on the injector wiring harness at the CKP connector 0140-16. If the engine stalls, replace the injector wiring harness. If not, proceed to Step 3.
3. Turn the engine off.
4. Disconnect connector C-35.
5. Use an ohmmeter to monitor the resistance value at connector C35 pins (engine side) while wiggling/tugging on the wiring harness approximately 10 inches back from the CKP connector 0140-16.
a. Pins T (G/BR) and P (Y/V)
b. Pins T (G/BR) and 2AR (B)
c. Pins P (Y/V) and 2AR (B)
6. If the resistance value changes when wiggling/tugging on the wiring harness, replace the injector wiring harness. If not, this bulletin does not apply. Refer to MS3 online or workshop manual section 01-03 NO. 11 ENGINE STALLS/QUITS, ENGINE RUNS ROUGH, MISSES, BUCK/JERK, HESITATION/STUMBLE, SURGES.
The new injector wiring harness is available as P/N TF01-67-080A.
