Mazda MIL

This bulletin applies to 2011-2013 Mazda6 vehicles equipped with a 2.5L engine and produced before June 18, 2012. Some vehicles may experience a MIL on with DTC P0600:00 stored in memory (serial communication link). As a result, the customer may experience a loss of engine power due to engine fail-safe mode initiation.

The MIL illumination may be cleared by disconnecting the negative battery cable. However, the DTC will remain stored in memory.

This concern may be caused by improper PCM control logic, which has since been changed.

1. Verify the concern.

2. Replace the PCM with modified part according to the instructions on MS3 online or in the workshop manual section 01-14 PCM Removal/Installation [MZR 2.5]).

3. NOTE: PCM replacement requires MASH authorization prior to the repair. Contact MASH at (888) 832-8477, option 2, to obtain prior authorization.

4. After PCM replacement, perform the following:

  • PCM configuration (section 01-14 PCM configuration [MZR 2.5]).
  • Immobilizer system component replacement / key addition and clearing section 09-14.
