This bulletin applies to 2016 Jaguar F-Pace, F-Type, XE, XF and XJ models equipped with EPAS steering racks. Apparently, some EPAS steering racks have been replaced needlessly due to misinterpretation of the factory wax coating as a lubricant leak.

The EPAS motor is supplied with a protective wax coating which may alter appearance during service. The liquefying of the wax may be misdiagnosed as a motor oil leak.

Viewing the EPAS steering rack from underneath the sub-frame assembly, it shows the condition of the wax, with globules highlighted by red circles.
