This bulletin applies to reprogramming the ABS module on 2015-2017 Jeep Renegade vehicles built on or before Dec. 12, 2016. The customer may describe one or more of the following concerns:
- The traction control light comes on when making tight turns on vehicles equipped with AWD.
- The electronic parking brake (EPB) does not disengage when accelerating while the “Auto Apply” feature is selected.
- The ignition key may get stuck in the ignition lock cylinder.
- The EPS does not engage with the “Auto Apply” feature selected, but the EPS will apply when the switch is manually activated.
Using a scan tool (wiTECH), verify that all related systems are functioning as designed. Record and correct any issues before proceeding. Install a battery charger to keep battery voltage between 13.2 and 13.5 volts during the programming.
Reprogram the ABS module with the latest software. Upon completion of the ABS flash reprogramming session, an additional 10-second key cycle (off to on) may be required to change an active drivetrain control module (DTCM) DTC to stored, allowing the DTC to be cleared.
