Some 2013 Ford F-Super Duty trucks equipped with the 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit the MIL on with codes P2002, P208E, P06EA and/or P06EB stored. A calibration is available to improve the monitors listed for these DTCs.
Additionally, the new calibration includes content to simplify the process for exiting the DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) anti-tampering strategy forced-idle mode. This mode is indicated by the message center displaying Exhaust Fluid System Fault.
1. Using an IDS (Integrated Diagnostic System) or equivalent, check for DTCs. If the afore-mentioned codes are present, or if the vehicle is in forced mode with the message center displaying Exhaust Fluid System Fault, proceed to Step 2.
2. Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using IDS release 84.03 or higher.
3. Rest/clear the DPF parameter tables. Resetting/clearing the adaptive learn tables can be accomplished with IDS by selecting the following: Toolbox, Powertrain, Service Functions, Diesel Particulate Regeneration System, DPF Parameter Reset. The adaptive learn tables for the DPF are not reset during PCM reprogramming and will need to be reset/cleared to prevent the code(s) from being set falsely.
4. If the vehicle is not in forced-idle mode after reprogramming, the repair is complete. If still in forced-idle mode, remove the vehicle from forced-idle mode by cycling the key.
