Owners of some 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with a 6.4L engine may complain that the engine does not have enough power to back a trailer up a steep grade. In addition, they may also indicate that the transmission shifts too early during acceleration while turning.
A revised transmission software calibration improves transmission torque management in reverse and while turning.
1. Replace the transmission control module.
2. Perform the adaptation procedure. Refer to DealerCONNECT>Service>TechCONNECT>Service Info>08 – Electrical>8E – Electronic Control Modules>MODULE, Transmission Control>Standard Procedure>ADAPTATION – 3.6L/6.4L GAS/3.0L DIESEL VEHICLES for additional information.
