Sooty Cruze

This bulletin applies to 2014-2015 Chevy Cruze vehicles equipped with a diesel engine. Some customers may comment on the MIL being illuminated. The technician may find DTC P22FA set current or in history. This condition may be caused by the nitrogen oxide sensor (NOX) covered with diesel particulates (soot).

Perform the repair procedure per diagnostic information and procedures for the DTC in the service manual. Replace the sensor (NOX position 1) if the sensor is soot covered.

Reprogram the ECM to prevent a reoccurrence. Perform a full trim reset using a scan tool after programming is complete. The replacement NOX sensor, position 1, is available as P/N 12662658.
