Jaguar Idle Hum

This bulletin applies to 2010 and later Jaguar XJ models. A humming noise may be heard from the engine during idle. This may be caused by dust and/or water ingress to the primary drive belt idler pulley.

Remove the T-connector from the air cleaner outlet pipe. Loosen the primary drive belt and remove from the idler pulley. Remove the primary drive belt idler pulley cap. Remove and discard the idler pulley. Remove the primary drive belt idler pulley bracket.

Install a new primary belt idler pulley bracket and torque to 25 Nm. Install a new primary drive belt idler pulley and torque to 47 Nm. Make sure that the primary drive belt is correctly located on each pulley.
