Alfa Fuel Pump

This bulletin applies to 2017-2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles, built on or before Aug. 30, 2017, equipped with a 2.9L 505 HP V6 Bi-Turbo engine or 2.0L 280 HP I4 DI Turbo engine. The customer may experience a MIL on. The technician may find DTC P008A-00 (low pressure fuel system pressure – too low).

Using a scan tool (wiTECH 2), verify that all related systems are functioning as designed. Record and repair as needed before proceeding. Note that DTC P008A-00 can be set if the vehicle ran out of fuel, in which case this bulletin does not apply).

Note: If the vehicle is equipped with a 2.9L engine, check if the BCM (body control module) is programmed with the latest available software, Only replace the fuel pump if the BCM software is up to date or the DTC P008A-00 resets after the BCM was updated.

1. Drain the fuel tank.

2. Replace the fuel pump module.

3. Add fuel to the fuel tank.

4. Using the scan tool (wiTECH 2), perform “Fuel Supply System Components Replacement”. This procedure can be found under the Misc. Function tab.

5. Using the scan tool, perform “Self-Adaptive Parameters Reset”.

6. Using the scan tool, clear all DTCs that may have set while performing this procedure.
