Acura Screw Loose

This bulletin applies to 2017 Acura RDX, MDX and TLX models. While driving, the customer may experience flickering interior/exterior lights, multiple indicators coming on, jerky steering and/or other voltage-related fluctuations.

The B+ sensing screw on the alternator may not be torqued properly. Remove the rear alternator cover and torque the B+ sensing screw to the specified value.

Disconnect and isolate the negative cable with the battery sensor from the battery. Remove the #4 spark plug ignition coil to provide better access. Disconnect the alternator connector. Remove the three nuts holding the rear alternator cover and remove the cover. Torque the B+ sensing screw with a stubby Phillips #2 screwdriver to 1.5 ft.-lbs. (2 Nm). Do not over-torque.

Reinstall the alternator cover to 3.3 ft.-lbs. (4 Nm) and reinstall all removed components. Connect the negative battery cable and the battery sensor to the negative batter post. Clear any DTCs.

Torque the B+ sensing screw to 1.5 ft.-lbs.
