Low battery voltage can cause an inoperative power lift gate.

Low battery voltage can cause an inoperative power lift gate.

Some owners of 2017-2018 Mazda CX-5 or CX-9 vehicles equipped with a power lift gate may complain about an inoperative power lift gate (PLG). DTC U3003:16 (power lift gate control module power supply voltage low input) may be stored in memory. This may be caused by low vehicle battery voltage.

1. Recharge the vehicle battery.

2. Confirm the lift gate is closed. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

3. Clear the KAM (keep alive memory) by stepping on the brake pedal and holding the high beam on for one minute.

4. Reconnect the negative terminal and confirm PLG operation.

5. Clear any DTCs.
