Rochester, N.Y.-based Hahn Automotive Warehouse, Inc. will acquire Newark, N.J.-based E&L Battery & Ignition Co. Hahn says the acquisition will be made through its wholly owned subsidiary Prime Automotive Parts Co., Inc.
Both Hahn and E&L are warehouse distributors of aftermarket automotive parts. Steven Blumenkranz, E&L’s president, will continue with the company following the completion of the transaction. Terms of the transaction, which is expected to close on or about April 29, 2013, were not disclosed.
E&L is a warehouse distributor of aftermarket automotive parts with a main warehouse in Newark and eight branches. Hahn is a distributor of automotive aftermarket parts through 20 distribution centers to over 80 Advantage Auto Stores and over 2,000 independent jobbers in the Midwest and along the Eastern Seaboard. Prime Automotive Parts operates a main warehouse in Glendale, New York, and 23 pickup warehouses in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
Hahn and E&L are both members of the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, Inc. Hahn says it elected to acquire E&L based on E&L’s performance as a well-managed company with a commitment to growth and customer service in the New Jersey market.
