This bulletin applies to 2009 Jeep Commander models equipped with the 5.7L V8 engine. Some customers may experience NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) issues when the vehicle is operating in the MDS mode, along with spark knock between 1,800 and 2,500 rpm. This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the PCM.
Using a scan tool (StarSCAN) with the appropriate diagnostic procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify that all engine systems are functioning as designed. Note and repair any DTC issues found before proceeding further.
Reprogram the PCM with the latest software Follow the detailed procedures available in DealewrCONNECT/TechCONNECT. Refer to 8-Electrical/Electronic Control Modules/Powertrain Control Module – Standard Procedure PCM/ECM Programming-Gas.
Type the necessary information on the Authorized Modification Label (p/n 04275086AB) and attach it near the VECI label.
