How to Address a Disturbed BMW

BMW 2, 3 and 4 series vehicles may exhibit a grinding or cracking noise when putting the transmission into gear (into drive or reverse), and a "drive disturbed" message might be on display.

This bulletin applies to BMW 2, 3 and 4 series vehicles. A grinding or cracking noise may be heard when putting the transmission into gear (into drive or reverse).

“Drive Disturbed” message may be displayed. This indicates that the inner and/or outer universal joint on the right and/or left rear output shaft has failed.  The remedy: replace both rear output shafts.
