This bulletin applies to 2016 Mazda CX-5 vehicles built before June 9, 2015. In cold weather (-4 to 14 degrees F), some vehicles may exhibit the EPB (electric parking brake) warning light on, with one or more of the following DTCs:

- C112A:77 (incorrect electric parking brake motor gear unit position)

- C2005:07 (mechanical problem of RH electric parking brake motor gear unit)

- C2005:19 (electric parking brake motor gear unit RH circuit malfunction)

- C2005:74 (RH electric parking brake motor gear unit power transmission impossible)

- C2006:07 (mechanical problem of RH electric parking brake motor gear unit)

- C2006:19 (electric parking brake LH motor gear unit circuit malfunction)

- C2006:74 (electric larking brake LH motor gear unit power transmission impossible)

Note: DTC C2005:19 and/or C2006:19 should always be present. If neither is present, this bulletin does not apply.

The conditions noted above occur when pressing the EPB switch to release the electric parking brake when the EPB will not release. The concern may be caused by the EPB motor gear unit dimensions being out of specification. The machining dimensions of the EPB motor gear unit have since been improved to eliminate the concern.

Replace the electric parking brake motor gear unit and the rear brake calipers.
