Owners of 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee vehicles may describe a drone noise at steady state engine RPM. The drone noise may sound similar to a louder-than-normal engine exhaust noise.

The noise may be heard in any transmission gear and at any vehicle speed around the specific engine RPM. However, the noise may be most noticeable in higher gears at a steady cruising speed. For vehicles equipped with the 2.4L engine, the noise typically occurs around 2200 engine RPM. For the 3.2L engine, the noise typically occurs around 1400 engine RPM.

If you verify this noise, replace the right and left rear axle half shafts.
