New Skin Zipper2 helps reduce arm fatigue

Steck Manufacturing Co. Inc. says its new Skin Zipper2 door skinning tool enables users to hem the steel door window flange opening with minimal arm fatigue.

The Skin Zipper2 (Part Number 21894) hems or crimps the door skin to the door shell at the window opening in a two-step process.

Step one allows the technician to form the edge of the door skin to an initial 45-degree angle by holding the tool at a right angle to the door. No hammer and dolly work required.

Step two allows the technician to complete the final form by using the tool at a 45-degree angle. Two side slots are included for left and right application. When completed minimal finishing may be required on the corners and body lines.

The company says the reduced height of the guide allows Skin Zipper2 to accommodate the step that is commonly in window opening areas that are not easily accessible with other tools. The Skin Zipper2 reduces technician arm fatigue from hammer and dolly method as well as door refinishing time.

Steck Manufacturing is based in Dayton, Ohio, and the Skin Zipper2 is made in the U.S.A. For more information, visit
