P0016 Crankshaft position – camshaft position correlation Bank 1 Sensor A
P0017 Crankshaft position – camshaft position correlation Bank 1 Sensor B
P0018 Crankshaft position – camshaft position correlation Bank 2 Sensor A
P0019 Crankshaft position – camshaft position correlation Bank 2 Sensor B
(A slight power reduction may be associated with this condition, but this condition does not cause engine stalling).
The cause of the condition: The camshaft sensor wheel may be in the wrong position on the camshaft.
If P0016 is stored, remove the high pressure pump housing from the cylinder head. Check the sensor wheel position according to the following photo. If the features (C ) align, proceed with the next section. If the features do not align, replace the camshaft. Make sure that the features align before installation.
If P0017, P0018 or P0019 is stored, disassemble the corresponding camshaft adjustment valve N205, N318, N208 or N319. Check for contamination in the housing and on the camshaft adjustment valve. Check for free movement of the piston. Clean the camshaft adjustment valve and/or housing as needed. If no obstruction is found and the condition remains, open a new warranty claim and follow Guided Fault Finding.
