The Equipment and Tool Institute’s (ETI) ToolTech 2011 will be held May 3-5 at the Gansevoort Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla. The cost for the event is $295.

One highlight of the show will be a speech on “Realities of Fleet Service for Today and Tomorrow” presented by Mike Hasinec, vice president – maintenance systems and support, Penske Truck Leasing. He will speak on Thursday, May 5, at 9 a.m.

His areas of responsibility includes technical training for a maintenance workforce that totals nearly 5,000, maintenance IT systems, vehicle diagnostics, vehicle applications engineering, new product testing, policies, procedures and regulatory compliance. He has been with Penske for over 33 years.

Some of the topics that will be covered regarding the trucking industry and the ever-changing world of fleet maintenance will include costs, environment legislation, safety and profitability in the fleet environment that force operational efficiencies in all aspects of the business.

“Technology is changing at a rapid pace and there are many challenges, such as shrinking technician pool, the need for computer and diagnostic skills versus mechanical skills, and maintaining multiple makes of vehicles and components,” says Hasinec. “The future of fleet maintenance rests with telematics, condition based maintenance, repair data mining and tech assistance based on repair history, enhanced diagnostic and tool capabilities, and improved training aids and methods driving repair proficiency.”

ToolTech 2011 will also include golf outings, receptions, the annual ETI meeting, supplier showcase, technical presentations and an opening session on “Future Automotive Technologies, A Tier One Supplier Perspective" presented by Dave Hobbs, senior trainer, Delphi.
