Audi Cam Valve

This bulletin applies to 2012-2015 Audi A6, A7, A8, Q7 and R8 vehicles, as well as 2008-2017 A3, A3 e-tron, A4, A5, A5 Cabriolet, Q3 and Q5 models, equipped with a 2.0L engine. When removing the camshaft bridge as part of a repair, check the condition of the non-return valve and its screen.
Pulsations in the oil circuit can cause the screen on the non-return valve to fail. The screen is a non-essential part and if missing or damaged it does not hinder the operation of the non-return valve.
If you detect during a repair that the screen is damaged, remove the housing of the screen. Grip the edges of the screen housing with long needle-nose pliers and pull it out of the camshaft bridge.
Thoroughly remove any screen remnants from the non-return valve and complete the repair. The screen does not have to be replaced. In the case of a defective screen, the camshaft bridge does not have to be replaced.
