Alfa Communication Breakdown
This bulletin applies to 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles. The customer may notice that the odometer is flashing. The technician may find DTC U1A07-87-CDCM (chassis domain control module – missing message).
Using a scan tool (wiTECH 2) with the appropriate diagnostic procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify that all related systems are functioning properly. If any DTCs other than the one mentioned here are present, record and repair as needed before continuing.
Using wiTECH 2, check if the scan tool can communicate with the CDCM. If it can, perform normal diagnostics. If it cannot communicate, replace the CDCM. Reprogram the CDCM with the latest software. Using wiTECH 2, perform “accelerometer calibration” routine found in misc. functions in the scan tool.
Clear all DTCs that may have set during the flash. Perform the CDCM verification test. Refer to the procedures available in DealerCONNECT>TechCONNECT under 28 – DTC-Based Diagnostics/Module, Chassis Domain Control (CDCM)/Standard Procedure.
Only replace the CDCM if normal diagnostics were performed and no issues were found with powers, grounds and communication circuits. A new CDCM is available as P/N 68310505AA.
