Updating the Ridgeline

This bulletin applies to 2012-2013 Honda Ridgeline vehicles equipped with a 3.5L engine. The MIL may be on, with DTC P2101 (electronic throttle control system malfunction) stored.

The vehicle may enter fail-safe mode and experience a lack of power or poor acceleration. The problem is intermittent, and cycling the ignition will usually restore the vehicle to its normal function, but the MIL will remain on and DTC P2101 will remain stored.

The PGM-FI misinterprets the electronic throttle control system and sets the DTC. Updating the PGM-FI software is required. Use application version 3.01.40 or later and HDS software version 3.016.018 or later.

Before beginning the repair, make sure that both the HDS and MVCI are updated with the latest software.
