Challenger SRT crank position

Owners of 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 vehicles (equipped with the 6.1L engine and 6-speed manual transmission built before Jan. 19, 2009) may complain of a MIL illumination. The technician may find DTC P0339 (crankshaft position sensor intermittent) has been set.

Using a scan tool (StarSCAN) with the appropriate diagnostic procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify that all engine systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs other than P0339 are present, record and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.

  1. Reprogram the PCM with the latest software. Follow the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT (Group 8 – Electrical > Electronic Control Modules – Service Information > Module – Powertrain Control > Standard Procedures > OCM/ECM Programming – Gas.
  2. Type the necessary information on the authorized modification label and attach it near the VECI label.
