Cincinnati-based Smyth Automotive recognized for quality family practices

Cincinnati-owned and operated family business, Smyth Automotive, has been named finalist for a 2014 Goering Center Family and Private Business Award.

The awards are presented annually by the University of Cincinnati and Goering Center for Family and Private Businesses to honor the positive contributions made by family and privately owned companies, both large and small. Applicants for the award have been judged on 10 of the Goering Center’s best practices of family and private businesses.

Each of the 75 finalists will be awarded in groups based on their family or private business status and how many years they have been in business. Winners and runner ups for each award will be announced at the Awards Gala on August 26th at the Cincinnati Music Hall.

Smyth Automotive is a member of Parts Plus, and the company says with its strong emphasis on retail, Smyth Automotive has built the Parts Plus name throughout the region. The operation has over 400 employees, 250 plus vehicles, and more than 100,000 square feet of warehouse inventory

Smyth Automotive is a privately held automotive aftermarket parts company, owned and operated by the Smyth family since it was founded by George Smyth 50 years ago. Since then, Smyth Automotive has grown and expanded into 20 parts stores with eight paint centers throughout the greater Cincinnati Tri-state area, plus Dayton and Columbus, Ohio.
