This bulletin applies to 2012-2013 GMC Terrain and Chevy Equinox vehicles, equipped with a 2.4L engine. An intermittent MIL-on, or service StabiliTrac, service power steering or service vehicle soon message(s) may be displayed on the DIC.

When checking for DTCs, the BCM, EBCM, ECM or TCM may report high speed communication codes U0073, U0100, U0101, U0121 or U-140 set as current or in history.

These conditions may be caused by one of the wires in the engine wiring harness being chafed, cut or damaged due to contact with the right rear corner of the engine or cam/valve cover (in particular circuits 2500 and 2501).

Repair the affected wire and inspect other wires in the bundle for chafes and repair as needed. Wrap the harness with additional protective tape and route the harness away from the suspected contact area.
