Diesel-off whine

This bulletin applies to 2009 VW Jetta Sedan GLI (diesel) models. A TDI common rail high pitch whine noise may be heard after switching the ignition to the off position.

With the implementation of the “Clean Diesel Technology,” changes to the EGR system were implemented as compared to previous diesel engines.

After switching the ignition off, the EGR system must go through an adaption of the valves to maintain calibration. The noises are considered normal and no repairs are necessary.
