Mazda wiggle and tug

Some 2009-2010 Mazda CX-9 vehicles may experience an engine stall. The engine will restart and no DTC is stored. This may be caused by an open circuit in the injector wiring harness and/or short circuit to the crankshaft position sensor (CKP) wire shielding near connector 0140-16.

1. Start the engine.

2. Wiggle or gently tug on the injector wiring harness at the CKP connector. If the engine stalls, replace the injector wiring harness.

3. You can also inspect further. Disconnect connector C-35. use an ohmmeter to monitor the resistance value at connector C-035 pins (engine side) while wiggling or gently tugging on the wiring harness approximately 10 inches back from the CKP connector 0140-16. Check resistance between pins T (G/BR) and P (Y/V).

4. Check resistance between pins T (G/BR) and 2AR (B). Check resistance between pins P (Y/V) and 2AR (B).

5. If the resistance valve changes when wiggling or tugging on the wire harness, replace the injector wiring harness.
