Ford Escape baffle pop

Some 2013 Ford Escape vehicles built on or before 5-6-2013 may exhibit a single pop-type noise from the exhaust system when starting the engine after the vehicle is parked for several hours. The noise typically occurs within one to three seconds after the engine starts. This may be due to a baffle in the front muffler assembly.

Park the vehicle with the engine off for a minimum of four hours. With the driver’s door open, start the engine. If a single pop noise is heard from the front muffler assembly within a few seconds after the engine starts, replace the front muffler assembly.
