Diesel Coolant Leak

Some 2015-2017 Ford F-Super Duty trucks equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine, built on or before June 1, 2017, may exhibit a leak from the coolant pump.

Allow the engine to cool before checking coolant level. Visually inspect the engine coolant level at the degas bottle. If low, inspect for contamination.

During normal operation, Motorcraft Orange Prediluted antifreeze may change color from orange to pink or light red. As long as the coolant is clear and uncontaminated, the color change does not indicate that the coolant has degraded nor does it require the engine coolant to be drained and replaced or the cooling system to be flushed.

Perform a pressure test of the cooling system. Refer to the workshop manual section 303-03C to determine if the coolant pump is leaking. If a leak is found, replace the pump.
