Some owners of 2007-2013 GMC Acadia vehicles may comment that the fuel gauge does not go to empty and the engine runs out of fuel, or they may hear a fuel slosh or noise from the fuel tank area when braking or accelerating from a stop.
There is a baffle in the fuel tank that may come loose and lay on the bottom of the fuel tank. If this happens, it may prevent the fuel level sensor from travelling to the bottom of the tank. The baffle may become dislodged if the vehicle has been in an accident.
If diagnostics lead to replacing the fuel level sensor, inspect the fuel tank for the baffle that may have come loose before replacing any parts. The baffle may become dislodged at either end of the tank. It may be necessary to tip the tank in both directions to find the loose baffle. If the baffle is lose, it will be necessary to replace the fuel tank.
