A BMW Color Concern

This bulletin applies to 2014 BMW 335i xDrive vehicles, when a headlight xenon bulb has been replaced. The customer may complain that the new bulb has a yellowish-white appearance when compared to the bluish-white of the original bulb on the other side.

Due to chemical and physical effect, a change of color as a new bulb ”burns in” is unavoidable. The color will gradually shift from yellow-white to blue-white.

The greatest rate of change in color occurs in the first 5 minutes of illumination after the bulb is switched on for the first time, and stabilizes after about 100 hours of use.

There is no effect on road illumination.
