Don’t Ride the Brakes

Honda offers a reminder regarding a loss of power where no DTCs are present. This may be the result of the normal workings of the brake system override.

The system is designed to cut engine power if it senses that the accelerator pedal might be stuck (this can occur if the pedal is open and with the brake pedal pushed).

If the driver rests his/her foot on the brake pedal while driving, the system will think that they’re trying to slow down and will cut engine power.

Before doing any troubleshooting, have the service adviser ask the customer about their driving habits.
