Chrysler requires effort to defrost

Owners of certain Chrysler vehicles may experience a rear defroster switch that has higher than desired engagement effort.

This condition is caused by the ATC housing having too much deflection when the button is depressed, which does not close the switch properly. Applicable vehicles include 2010 300/300C/Charger, Grand Cherokee and Commander.

1. Remove the ATC control head. Follow the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT. Refer to Group 24 – Heating & Air Conditioning > Controls > Controls, A/C and Heater Removal procedures.

2. Install two screws into the back of the ATC control head (screws available as P/N 68078941AA).

3. Install the ATC control head. Follow the service procedures listed in DealerCONNECT.
