DTC B0081 Diagnosis

This bulletin applies to 2009-2013 Chevy Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban and Tahoe and GMC Sierra and Yukon models. DTC B0081 can be set in the SDM (sensing diagnostic module) and PPS (passenger presence system).

In most cases, this DTC will set due to a communication fault and does not always require a module replacement.

Inspect the PPS and SDM powers, grounds and communications circuits at all in line connectors, PPS connector, SDM connector and splice packs for being fully seated, backed out terminals, and proper terminal tension using the correct test probes.

In most cases, the root cause is a connector not fully seated and cycling the connection will correct the concern.
