Subaru Upgrades the Oil Switch

This bulletin applies to 2005-2016 Subaru Legacy and Outback, 2008-2015 Impreza, 2013-2015 Crosstrek, 2003-2015 Forester, 2008-2016 WRX, 2013-2016 BRZ and 2006-2014 Tribeca models. A design change has been made to the engine oil pressure switch to increase durability.

The new switch, P/N 25240KA051, includes a pilot portion at the start of the threads and replaces the previous P/N 25240KA050. The new switch P/N 25240KA041 replaces 25240KA040 and features nickel plated switch contacts.

If the oil pressure lamp in the combination meter does not illuminate when the ignition is switched to the on position, the oil pressure switch may cause this condition. After first eliminating other electrical and/or wiring causes, replace the switch with one of the new switches, referring to the original switch P/N to choose the correct new switch.
