Order Reprints
Examples of old and new stop lamp switches. Notice that the harness connectors appear brownish instead of black.

This bulletin applies to 2008-2011 Subaru Impreza, 2008-2014 Impreza WRX, 2015-2019 WRX, 2017-2018 Forester and 2013-2019 BRZ vehicles, equipped with LED-type rear combination lamps. A rasping sound may be heard when applying the brake.

A new stop lamp switch is available. Additional grease and a change to the plating process used on some of the internal components have been made to address concerns of a rasping type sound heard in some cases when applying the brakes. The new switches were incorporated into production with the following VINs:

WRX.... L8802234

Production of the other applicable models was already completed before the production change.

The new stop lamp switches are available as follows:

Impreza and Forester.........P/N 83311FG001

WRX and BRZ...................P/N 83311CA001

The new switches can be identified by a brownish-colored harness connector socket as opposed to black.
