Cadillac Escalades Missing Out

Order Reprints

Some owners of 2015 Cadillac Escalades equipped with a 5.3L L83 or 6.2L L86 engine may comment about an SES light, wherein the technician finds DTC P0300 engine misfire on cylinders four and six and/or a tick noise. This may be the result of an AFM (active fuel management) lifter that is mechanically collapsed and/or stuck all of the time. These lifter concerns may be the result of internal locking pin damage within the lifter due to oil aeration. Inspect for valve operation. If the valve(s) are not moving, replace the AFM lifters and guides on the bank with the concern. Also, replace the oil pump pickup seal, as a faulty seal may be sucking air into the oil circuit, causing the aeration.
