Improved Subaru Pressure Switch

Order Reprints

Previous oil pressure switch threaded tip has not pilot step-down.

This bulletin applies to 2006-2014 Subaru Tribeca, 2005-current Legacy and Outback, 2008-current Impreza, WRX, STi and Crosstrek, 2013-current BRZ and 2003-current Forester vehicles. A design change was implemented to the engine oil pressure switch internal switch contacts (using nickel plating) to enhance durability and reduce the possibility of poor contact which could affect operation or cause improper illumination of the oil pressure warning lamp. A small pilot portion was added to the threaded area on the new-design P/N 25240KA051. This new design replaces P/N 25240KA040 and 25240KA050.

The new oil pressure switch is easily identified by the reduced pilot portion of the threads as seen here.
