Loss of Power Steering for Chevy

Order Reprints

Inspect and correct as needed all splice connectors.

This bulletin applies to 2012-2014 Chevy Orlando vehicles. A defect may exist in some vehicles that allow melting snow/water containing road salt to enter the vehicle and corrode a splice connection in the electronic power steering (EPS) module circuit, located in the main body wiring harness which runs along the driver’s door garnish trim area.

Corrosion in this area may lead to increased resistance in the EPS circuit which may result in an intermittent or permanent loss of EPS assist. This condition will set the power steering malfunction indicator lamp in the instrument panel. Inspect the splice connectors for damage and repair as needed. Once all splice connections are good, wrap the splice connections with PET (woven polyester electrical tape), available from Kent Automotive at 800-563-1717. Request the special order part number 1089482.

Wrap the connections in polyester electrical tape.
