Honda offers a tip when encountering “odd” electrical problems. If software errors develop, which can happen due to a low battery or an interrupted learn procedure, this can cause all sorts of strange problems that may be difficult to troubleshoot. Try doing a battery cable reset.

A battery cable reset forces all capacitors to discharge faster and clears and resets most control unit volatile memory. Before you start, make sure that the battery is fully charged. Then get the anti-theft code and write down the customer’s audio presets.

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK and remove the key. This lessens the chance of voltage spikes.

Disconnect the battery cables (negative first, then positive).

Short the battery cables together with a jumper wire.

Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait 10 minutes,

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK and remove the key.

Remove the jumper wire and reconnect the battery cables (positive first, then negative).

Check ISIS and perform the required reset/relearn procedures for the specific vehicle.

Enter the anti-theft code and restore the customer’s settings.
