AC Performance Not Cool for Lincoln

Order Reprints

Check fan motor, control module and harness connection on this unit for a Lincoln MKS.

Some 2011 and 2012 Lincoln MKS vehicles built on or after Sept. 1, 2010, and equipped with dual engine cooling fans might exhibit a lack of air conditioning performance while the vehicle is stationary or moving at slow speed, and/or an overheat condition. DTCs P0217, P1299 and P1285 might be present.

Using IDS release of 87.05 and higher, check the PCM for an older calibration. Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration. If this doesn’t solve the problem, using IDS, select Data Logger. Select Output State Control and command the cooling fan speed desired PID to high speed (FAN_CTRL# or FAN_DSD# - above 90%) for one minute and verify cooling fan operation. If the fans do not run, replace the cooling fan motor and control module assembly (P/N BA5Z-8C607-C). Check coolant level and top off if needed.
